The two little Ruby and Diamond drops
Now as dangling rubies with added diamonds! So good.
Two beautiful rubies that once held up the ends of a Victorian crescent, now happily paired off with old cut bezel set diamonds and doing their own thing. ❤️ The rubies are high quality, original antiques, natural, no heat.
These charming earrings were created from the two terminal rubies of an original circa 1890 Victorian ruby and diamond brooch, the same mother piece that has now been transformed into three new jewels.
The two natural rubies measure approximately 4.8 x 4 and 3.9 x 4.6.Together, they are estimated at approximately 0.80ct. Their vivid, deep purplish-red colour is wonderfully saturated, with plenty of lively sparkle.
The original brooch was submitted to ALGT (Antwerp Laboratory for Gemstone Testing) before its transformation. The report identified 19 natural corundum (ruby) stones totalling 4.86 ct, with no indications of heating.
These are the two larger terminal rubies from that original group. And the story doesn't end with the stones: the 14K gold used for the French wires was also reclaimed from the original brooch, so these little earrings carry a tiny piece of their former life with them.
