French Nail Bangle, Silver

Sculptural French silver nail-form bangle, shaped as a continuous wrap with a broad, flattened horseshoe nail head. The form is both clean and deliberate, balancing a crisp, architectural line with a subtle reference to early hand-forged nails.

In Victorian symbolism, the nail, and especially the ones used in horseshoes, was associated with strength, protection, and good fortune. Those meanings still resonate here, giving the piece a quiet sense of purpose beyond its minimal design.

Stamped with two French hallmarks, including a worn Minerva guarantee mark and a maker’s mark. Likely 20th century.

The craftsmanship is evident in the precise construction and seamless flow of the form. The oval shape allows the bracelet to sit naturally on the wrist and stay in place. The closure is discreetly integrated, with a small peg beneath the nail head that fits into a fitted opening, allowing the bracelet to appear uninterrupted when worn. As with this type of closure, it may open if pressed against a surface.

It has a great weight to it and is a refined and beautiful piece, defined by its clarity of form and thoughtful execution.My wrist measures 6.3" / 16 cm and it fits perfectly. It could accommodate roughly an additional 5 mm or so, and still be comfortable.
