Large Victorian Diamond Question Mark Pendant
A very Victorian way of being mysterious: elegant, suggestive, and just a little bit of a drama queen. The question mark became a wonderfully fashionable motif in Victorian jewellery, with its graceful, unexpected shape suggesting mystery, possibility and the unknown. This little jewel certainly knows how to make an entrance.
Originally a brooch, it has now been transformed into a pendant, with the original pin cleverly used as the bail, keeping its French hallmarks intact. The sweeping question-mark form is set with rose-cut diamonds in silver topped 18K, while the original pearl setting at the bottom of the design now holds a newer brilliant-cut diamond in an 18K gold bezel.
