One-of-a-Kind Upcycled Jacket – Vintage 1970s Danish "Kauslunde" Weave
🌸 Scandi weave, Kauslunde Open Jacket 👌
Bring authentic Scandinavian heritage into your wardrobe with this stunning, handmade lightweight jacket. This piece is thoughtfully upcycled from an authentic, vintage 1970s tablecloth from the legendary Kauslunde Weaving Mill (Kauslunde Væveri) on the island of Funen, Denmark.
Kauslunde ceased production decades ago, making their heavy, textured textiles highly sought-after collector's items. Now, this rich piece of Danish artisan history has been transformed into a modern, wearable work of art!
The Fabric & Artisan Weaving Technique:
The Crossed-Fiber Secret: The fabric features a masterfully executed traditional technique. The warp threads (running lengthwise) are pure linen/flax, providing incredible strength, structural stability, and a beautiful natural luster. The weft threads (running crosswise) are premium cotton, giving the fabric its softness, comfort, and flexibility.
Naturally Iron-Free & Wrinkle-Resistant: Because the heavy linen fibers are locked tight against the elastic cotton threads in a dense, heavy weave, the fabric naturally bounces back. Simply wash, hang to dry, and it’s ready to wear - no ironing required!
The Master Weaver’s Border: Unlike mass-produced modern fabrics, this vintage textile features an engineered border woven directly into the piece. The master weaver intentionally changed the loom’s settings near the edges, shifting the pattern into a gorgeous, wavy geometric wave. On this jacket, this detailed border runs vertically down the front opening, creating an exquisite architectural design feature.
Colorway: A beautiful, dusty olive/grey geometric pattern on a warm cream background.
Materials:
Vintage: Danish Kauslunde tablecloth (half linen / half cotton blend)
New: Cotton thread, cotton bias binding, deadstock synthetic fiber lace detailing.
