Greta, Blanket Coat in 1950s Swedish 100% wool, sz M-XL
Greta Garbo was one of a kind. So was my first mother-in-law, a petite, fiercely opinionated and effortlessly elegant woman with Swedish-Italian roots. And now there’s Greta, this one-of-a-kind coat. Layaway is available, DM me.
Made from a Swedish 1950s wool blanket in muted shades of green and cream, Greta is a long throwover with a lovely checked pattern. The collar, shoulder detail and turned-up sleeve ends reveal a grey bedsheet printed with tiny stars or crystals, a little unexpected detail that makes the whole thing even more special.
The wool is wonderful in its own right. They simply don’t make blankets like this anymore, and once these vintage textiles are gone, they’re gone. Greta is made from a piece of that history, reworked into something entirely new. There won’t be another quite like her.
With her relaxed shape, roomy sleeves and generous front pockets, Greta is made for throwing on and heading out. No buttons, no fuss, just a good wool coat with a bit of personality.

Care
Wool is naturally self-cleaning, so airing the coat outside after wearing is often enough. If it needs washing, hand wash gently in lukewarm water with wool detergent. Don’t rub, wring or twist it. Rinse at a similar temperature, press out excess water with a towel, reshape and dry flat away from direct heat or sunlight. Do not tumble dry or hang while wet.
As with all upcycled pieces, small imperfections in the original fabric or handmade finish may occur. Consider them part of the character of a garment made from vintage materials.
