Georgian Bow Jewel • A Little Knot of Love

A charming Georgian bow jewel set with purple/red foil-backed paste stones, with the deeper central stone surrounded by lighter violet stones. The bow is a wonderfully romantic motif, traditionally associated with love, attachment and devotion.

What makes this little jewel especially delightful is the attention given to the back. The bow is engraved to imitate the texture of fabric, giving the plain metal an almost textile-like appearance. Originally a jewel rather than a brooch, the pin fitting appears to be a later addition, allowing this tiny Georgian treasure to be worn anew.
