These diamonds have been catching the light for over two centuries.

Long before electricity, they shimmered by candlelight in a beautifully handcrafted flower that still feels as charming today as it must have over 200 years ago.

-

Dating to the late Georgian period, circa 1790–1820, this delightful flower brooch is set with a wonderful collection of hand-cut rose cut diamonds in traditional closed-back settings. Each diamond has its own personality, cut and shape - glowing with that soft, watery light that only antique cuts seem to possess.

-

The brooch tests between 12–14K gold, while the later brooch/pendant fitting tests 9K gold. At some point in its long life, the jewel was thoughtfully converted to make it wearable for another generation. The fitting was attached using a gray low-temperature metal, likely a historic tin/lead solder, chosen to minimize heat exposure and help preserve the fragile closed-back diamond settings. Similar historic repairs can also be seen on the leaves.

These old repairs are part of the brooch's remarkable journey, a reminder that jewels like this were cherished, worn, repaired, and loved rather than hidden away.

-

Two smaller diamonds are missing, but the brooch remains beautifully balanced and full of character.  Overall a rare survivor from the late Georgian era, still quietly blooming more than two centuries later.
