Antique diamond Swallow
Sometimes a single diamond is enough to make you stop and stare. In this case, it's the remarkable old rose-cut diamond suspended from the swallow's beak, catching the light with every movement like a tiny drop of morning dew. It almost feels as though the little bird is carrying a drop of light as it returns home.

Beautifully handcrafted around 1885–1905, this graceful swallow is made in 18K yellow gold with a silver-topped front, allowing the diamonds to take center stage just as they were intended to over a century ago. The swallow is densely set with a glittering collection of old-cut diamonds, with an estimated total weight of approximately 2 carats.

The craftsmanship is exceptional throughout. Each diamond has been individually set to create a beautifully flowing pavé that follows every graceful curve of the swallow, while the exquisitely pierced gallery on the reverse is a reminder that fine antique jewels were crafted with just as much care on the back as on the front.

The swallow has long symbolized love, hope, loyalty, and the promise of a safe return home, making it one of the most cherished motifs in antique jewellery. This little bird captures all of that charm, frozen forever in mid-flight.

At some point during its long life, the original brooch fitting was replaced with a later 18K gold safety clasp, allowing it to continue being worn and enjoyed for another generation. If you would rather wear it as a pendant, I'm happy to convert it free of charge, using the existing clasp as the bail while preserving the character and history of the jewel.
