Large Antique Star pendant/brooch, 18K

A charming late Victorian combined brooch and pendant, beautifully crafted in 18K gold and set with a high-shine heliotrope jasper disc depicting the night sky and a five pointed guiding star in gold, diamonds and a ruby 👌
In the 19th century, this stone wasn’t only decorative, it was believed to protect, to steady the emotional field, and to “hold one’s ground” in times of uncertainty. At the center sits a crisp five-pointed star in gold, set with teeny old cut diamonds and a single ruby. In Victorian language, the star was a talismanic emblem of direction and destiny  a guiding sign. 
It still has its original working pin and C-clasp, and a generous bail for wear as a pendant. So you can choose how you want to carry this little universe, pinned close to the heart, or hung as a pretty compass on a chain.
