Antique French “Janvier” Month Medal, Art Nouveau, c.1900, 18K
A scarce symbolic pendant from the early 1900s, crafted in solid 18K gold as part of the beloved French “médailles du mois” (month medals) series. A meaningful jewel for those born in January, or simply for collectors of fine French Art Nouveau jewelry.
The word JANVIER (January) is spelled out in elegant openwork script across the top, framed by finely chased holly leaves and berries – a winter motif representing protection and renewal. A deep blue stone adds a striking touch of color, catching the light beautifully.
These month pendants were popular sentimental jewels of the Art Nouveau period, often gifted as personal talismans for birthdays and special occasions. Today they are highly collectible for their symbolism, craftsmanship, and timeless wearability.
