Antique Double Snake ring, 14K and Silver
A striking Victorian double snake ring, crafted in 14K gold with a silver top. The entwined serpent design features two vivid emeralds at the heads, chunky old-cut diamonds along the bodies, and tiny red stones set as the snakes’ eyes.
The snake motif became famous when Prince Albert gave Queen Victoria a snake ring as her engagement ring in 1839. It symbolized eternal love, rebirth, and protection – meanings that still resonate today as powerful reminders of renewal and unity.
The silver-over-gold technique was the height of 19th-century craftsmanship. Silver was chosen because it is the most reflective precious metal we have – reflecting about 95% of light, more than platinum or white gold - a highly appreciated feature in a candlelight only environment.
A very special ring full of history and symbolism.
