Antique intertwined snakes ring, 18K
A wonderful antique intertwined-snake ring, softened by more than a century of wear. You can still sense the original detailing in the curves, once these two serpents had tiny scales on their tails and sharper facial expressions, but time have smoothed them into this velvety, almost sculptural embrace with patina no money can buy.
Each snake carries its own gemstone head: one set with a deep blue sapphire, the other with a glowing ruby.
Snake rings became iconic in the 19th century after Queen Victoria received one as her engagement ring, a symbol of eternal love, protection, and fidelity.
Hallmarked with the French owl for imported 18K gold, it has lived a full life. You’ll find the beautiful patina only real antique gold earns, along with subtle signs of old sizing and repairs on the back of the shank (not very visible).
